Aphasia and the Caring Role

“Caring is a near universal experience and part of what makes us human. Yet too often the experience of caring is hidden away, behind closed doors, a private issue.”

Heléna Herklots, Chief Executive of Carers UK, Family, Friends

and Carers: an anthology of poems and stories, (Carers UK).

My video poem, Of Glass, focuses on the mother-daughter experience of aphasia. This video poem offers an insight into the relationship between language breakdown and the aphasic body, hemiplegia and my role as a former carer.
